In 1987 I used to borrow my brother & sisters records to play (my brother MC Nino went on to co-write the Baby D anthem Let Me Be Your Fantasy, and remix tracks for Peter Andre and Eternal among others) but soon found out that I needed to have my own collection.
I decided to start buying my own vinyl. During my early years I followed in the footsteps of my big brother and started DJing for friends at parties and small functions, this then grew into doing larger and corporate events including prestigious venues such as The Landmark hotel, Claridges Hotel, Ealing film studios, The Grove Hotel and the Conrad Hotel in Chelsea. I enjoyed playing at house parties and small bars and secured my first residency the Time Bar in Westbourne Park
How it all started...
playing Classic Soul & RnB. I soon got the taste for the club venues and was travelling to the South coast of England for a Soulful House residency. From there my reputation began to grow and I was soon one of the weekly residents playing at the newly refurbished Club Sky in Hertford among other venues and bars. It was an ideal situation for me.. Soul, Funk & Rare Groove on a Thursday night and Funky Soulful house on a Friday.. What more could I want!!! I still play at the events that I put on with my friend/founder of Come Tidy Promotions
which are Soulful nights for party people, and I still love rocking the house
crowd as well. Thats where the idea of my night called Essence Of Soul
